The Gadget Boy

Your son’s bestfriend has all the latest gadgets and it makes your son feel as if he’s living in dark ages.  It is sometimes difficult for them to understand why other kids have the latest in technology and he doesn’t.

When he complains about not having the latest ipod or the Wii, carefully explain to him that every family spends money differently.  Don’t put down the other family for being wrong and point out the fun things you do that don’t involve toys.  You can tell him that you can save that money and go on an outing or a camping trip together.

If dissappointment persists, consider exposing him to less fortunate people to put things in perspective.  It will help him understand that having a lot of toys isn’t everything.

Father and Son Deal

Joey brought home his report card yesterday and proudly showed me his grades. His grades are good but he’s a bit worried his dad might not buy him the playstation 3 he wants for Christmas because he’s 2 points short of the deal. Hubs promised to buy him one if he gets 85 average this second trimester. I told him he still got a month and a half to make up for it and not to worry too much because I’m confident that he can do it.
