Relieve Tired Achy Legs

Do your legs keep you up at night?  If your answer is yes, then you might be experiencing RLS or Restless Leg Syndrome.  This is a real medical condition, just like high blood pressure,  diabetes, or depression. People who suffer from RLS have difficulty lying down and sleeping, or sitting down and relaxing, because of the extreme pain in their legs.  Sadly, many people disregard the symptoms and are unaware that this is something serious.

But the good news is, Restless Leg Syndrome is not very difficult to treat.  Simple lifestyle changes can improve the symptoms.  Regular exercise, cutting your caffeine intake, reducing alcohol consumption, eliminating cigarettes, reducing stress and eating a healthy diet will significantly help ease your suffering.  You may also want to consider wearing jobst socks. These are medicated hoses that can give support and help relieve your tired achy legs.  These socks are designed not just for women but also for men who suffer from venous disease or swelling related conditions.  Experts also recommend walking, jogging, stretching, taking a hot or cold bath, or massaging your legs to help you feel better.

Following these simple tips can reduce sleep disturbances, prevent daytime fatigue and significantly improve your daytime activities.

Medicated Hoses

My family was in the stockings business for years.  Back in the 80s and the early 90s, we were the largest supplier of stockings in the malls of  Manila.    Most of the hoses were imported from Japan and some from USA and  Korea.  Although the ones from Japan were a little pricey than those that came from HongKong and China, they were very popular.

We supplied everything, from knee-high to garter tops to panty hose; from low end to high end (such as signature stockings from Christian Dior, Charles Jordan, Nina Ricci, Oscar Dela Renta, Issey Miyake and many more); and from ordinary to support and medicated ones like juzo.  I was fascinated with the ones that were made with vitamin C and aloe vera and the ones especially made for varicose veins.  Never thought then that it was possible to incorporate them with the sheer fabric.  They were expensive but very saleable.

It was a very lucrative business back then, but when the 1997 economic crisis hit the Philippines, we had to stop.  Those that were made in China and HongKong became very popular.  Money became tight and more women preferred the cheaper ones.  Nowadays, I don’t wear hoses much as I rarely go out, but when i do, I like using support because they cling to your legs and don’t easily get lose even with several washing.
