Not-so bad

I read that the activities like staying up too late and playing video games that may not good for our kids during school days can actually deliver benefits during school breaks.

kid-playing

You may be a little surprised but don’t pull the plug on your child’s video game just yet.  Recent studies show that children who played video games for an hour or two everyday improved their vision by 20 percent.  Experts agree that the action-packed games push the body’s visual system to its limits, and a child’s developing brain quickly adapts.  This also teaches them to learn how to strategize and make decisions.

And don’t get mad if your kids may seem lazy when he/she gets out of bed at 11 am.  The extra zzzz can guard them against winter bugs.  The extra shut-eye increases their antibody production, boosting immunity by 50 percent.  Plus, it stabilizes blood sugar, which curbs cravings and cuts junk food consumption.

So, when school vacation is in full swing, let your kids enjoy it, these “bad habits” are hardly a cause for concern.

fun time with hubs

While I was growing up, I was never into sports.  Back in highschool, all my friends were in the volleyball varsity team, but I’d much rather watch them play than be the player.  I never even learned how to ride the bike and never thought I would someday.

Hubs used to be an active mountain biker.  He was usually out on Saturdays with his friends riding their way up to Antipolo.  One day he came home with a new bike, and before I could snap “Why did you get a new one without letting me know first?” he announced that it was for me.  Whoa! I have a bike?  Never in my entire life have i tried riding a bike, he knew that and I also know that he spent a lot on that new bike so I figured, why not give it a try?

I never realized that learning to ride was much more fun.  Most of the time I was out of control and was shouting “Get out of the way!” to the people in the streets.  I fell a few times but I had fun.  I enjoyed it and we had something to laugh about when we got home.  I was glad too that I made hubs happy that I tried to learn what interested him.

Red on the face

Three Christmases ago, my cousin’s friend, Caroline, whom she have not seen for some time, gave her a beautiful red cheongsam blouse.  Caroline knows that my cousin have always been fascinated with these pretty Chinese blouses so she made an effort to drop by the Chinatown just to get her one.  Upon reaching home, [she was living with us at that time, before she left for the States] she excitedly ripped off the wrapping and immediately ran to her room to try it on.  Unfortunately, the blouse didn’t fit.  Hoping to spare hurting Caroline’s feelings, she decided not to tell her.

She re-gifted and passed it on to someone whom she knows could use it.  She attended their office Christmas party and thought it would be a nice gift to her officemate.  She made sure  she is giving it to someone whom she knows wasn’t in Caroline’s circle of friends.  A week later, my cousin and I attended another Christmas party and horror of all horros, LOL, she saw Caroline with her officemate with whom she has given the cheongsam blouse.  Her officemate was wearing the blouse!  And the worst part, her officemate thanked her again for the blouse and introduced Caroline as her second cousin.  She was red in the face and wanted to disappear right then and there.  You can just imagine her embarrassment.  She talked to Caroline and apologized, she forgave her, but my cousin swore NEVER to do it again.

A Nice Message

Every morning upon waking up, I would immediately get my cellphone and check if I have important messages. One particular message certainly made my day, who wouldn’t? Read on…

“Hugging is healthy. It helps the immune system, cures depression and reduces stress. It invigorates, rejuvinates and has no unpleasant side effects. It’s a miracle drug: naturally sweet, has no artificial ingredients and is 100% environment friendly. It’s an ideal gift: great for any occasion, fun to give and receive, shows you care, comes with it’s wrapping, and of course, is fully returnable.”

Very inspiring, right? Makes me want to hug everybody, hehe.

Busy, Busy, Busy

About a year ago, my life used to be so relaxed.  But when I started blogging, I became a multitasker.  Now I have to divide my time with computer, email, cellphone, my store, work and family demands.  Everyday I’ve been juggling all these tasks and no, I’m not complaining.  I am actually loving it.  It’s nice that I’m thinking again.  It’s like being back to school… doing research, writing essays, learning new things, etc.  Sometimes I have so many thoughts that I can’t even keep up.  But I’m getting by.  And what I love most about it?  Gaining a lot of new friends and being able to travel around the world, and yes, earning a little extra for the family.  :)

My First Post

Encouraged by Adie, my “anak” [child] in the cyber world, I really don’t know what was in my mind when I decided to put up another blog.  It was hard to maintain three blogs considering two of my store helpers left about three weeks ago.  But I have become so addicted to blogging that now I am welcoming you to my fourth.  I hope you will also enjoy your stay here, as you did with my other blogs.
