    Home Security that Works

    Posted on October 22, 2015 @ 5:56 pm

There are many different types of home security systems, and some are more effective than others. A loud burglar alarm, security company stickers in the windows and relying on a neighbor to have a look when you’re not at home are a few common ways people use to protect their property and families. However, the only system that provides true peace of mind is an alarm monitoring system.

    What Is Monitored Home Security?

A home monitored security system is connected to a monitoring center 24 hours a day. At the center, trained professionals respond if your alarms are activated. There are several ways a system can be connected to the monitoring center.

    • Landline: Your landline phone is connected to the monitoring center. You system may be wireless, but the communication to the center requires a landline.

    • Cellular: When an alarm is triggered, your system can use a cellular uplink to communicate with the center. This is considered better than a landline connection because it is faster and still works even if a burglar cuts your landline.

    • Broadband: Your broadband internet connection is the means for a triggered alarm to communicate with the monitoring center. This is four times faster than a landline connection.

    Customized Home Security

Home automation systems include a variety of security products. You can get emails or texts when an alarm is triggered and customized notification for events such as when the housekeeper arrives or leaves, when children arrive home from school or when the liquor or medicine cabinet is opened. Other options include:

    • Lock and unlock doors
    • Check windows
    • View security cameras on your phone
    • Adjust lights and thermostats remotely
    • Set up medical alerts for seniors living in your home

When your home security system is monitored, a signal will be sent to the monitoring center when an alarm is triggered. It could be a fire or smoke alarm, a break-in alarm or a medical alert. There are even alarms for high levels of carbon monoxide in the indoor air. Within seconds, the technician will call you to verify that the alarm is not false. If you don’t answer the call, the police will be sent to your home. All of this takes place in less than two minutes. If you require other services such as the fire department or paramedics with an ambulance, you can have separate alarms installed.

A monitored home security system is the only kind of home security that will let you rest easy.

More Than Just A Gelato Spoon

    Posted on October 20, 2015 @ 1:58 am

When you think about ice cream and gelato, one of the tools that you might think about is the spoon. There are different sizes of tasting spoons depending on how much you want to eat. There are also a few different ways to use the spoons instead of simply eating ice cream or gelato from a container.

One of the ways that you can use the spoons is by holding an ice cream party at your home. Place several kinds of ice cream on a long table. Each person will get a small bowl with a spoon. They can choose the kind of ice cream they want to enjoy. After everyone has tried the flavors, they can put their spoon in a container that is their favorite. This works with an ice cream business so that you can determine what flavors customers enjoy. This is also an idea if you want to introduce new flavors to the menu.

Spoons can be used for condiments at an event or for dinner at home. Place small bowls or cups on a table for the meal and spoons in each container. This prevents everyone eating from getting the different kinds of condiments in each container and mixing them together. The spoons can also be used to eat a meal with instead of just ice cream. Most spoons are made of plastic, making them easy to wash and reuse. They are ideal for parties at schools because the spoons used for tasting are often smaller. You can use the spoons for children at a daycare or a preschool as they typically don’t eat large portions.

Gelato spoons can be used at a baby or wedding shower for getting some of the smaller refreshments. Put the spoons in a jar with a bow tied on each end. The bow could be in a color that matches the gender of the baby or in a color that matches a color used in the wedding. They can be used for measuring small amounts of spices that are added to dishes. Companies like Gelato Products offer a variety of spoons in all styles and colors.

Tips for First Time Pet Owners

    Posted on October 12, 2015 @ 10:48 pm

Pets are like kids. They need all the love and care that we can give. But unlike kids that grow up and become more independent, our pets will still need us to care for them, even if they grow old. Below are some tips I got from a pet blog I frequent, on how to become a responsible dog owner if you are a first timer to keep your dog happy, healthy, and safe.

    1. Dogs tend to run away or jump on other dogs or people, so it’s important to keep your furry friend leashed when in public.

    2. Feed them the right food and give them clean water. Table food can be dangerous to them, so do not let them graze and always keep fresh water available.

    3. If you will allow your dog to play in your backyard, make sure that it is secure. Check for holes in the fences and make sure there are no electrical wires or cords because they might chew on this.

    4. Take your pet to the vet clinic for regular check ups at least once a year. This will ensure that your dog is healthy.

    5. Brush your dog’s fur regularly to keep it from getting tangled and matted.
This will save you a lot of time from detangling tough tangles and fur balls later on.

    6. Give them chew toys to keep their teeth healthy and strong. This will also be a great way for them to relieve boredom.

    7. Bathe your fur baby when necessary and make sure you brush their teeth, too. Their ears need to be cleaned regularly as well.

    8. To prevent unwanted behaviors, enroll them in an obedience school to be trained.

    9. Your pets need to be active, take them to the park when you bring your kids or take them for a walk at least twice a day to physically and mentally exercise them.

    10. When at home or in public, pick up after your dog. Your dog’s waste should be disposed in a proper manner.

Signs To Take The Horse To The Vet

    Posted on October 2, 2015 @ 3:04 am

If you have horses, then you know the importance of taking them to a vet and making sure they remain healthy. There are a few reasons as to why you would want to take your horse to the vet. Most of the time, it’s for an emergency. Not every situation requires emergency treatment, but there are some signs that you can look for so that you can make a judgement call.

Bleeding is one of the primary reasons for taking your horse to the vet. This could be any kind of bleeding that you see. When you first notice the bleeding from any area, you want to try to apply as much pressure as possible to the area to try to get it stopped. Sometimes, horses will get cuts from wire or other debris that might be in the field where they are kept. If you can’t get the bleeding stopped and if the bleeding is coming from the rear area of the horse, it’s best to take it to the vet. If you see blood in the urine, then it’s best to go ahead and call the vet to set up an appointment to take the horse in to be seen.

If you notice that the horse is choking, you need to seek immediate equine veterinary care. Signs of choking include coughing, salivating and keeping the head down with small bits of food or water coming from the mouth. The horse will still likely be able to breathe, but you want to get the animal to the vet as soon as possible to try to get the food from the esophagus. Colic is another condition that affects horses. The animal will begin sweating and will lay down. It will alternate between laying on the ground and getting up in order to try to get relief. Try to give the horse a carrot to see if it will take the food. If the horse refuses to eat, then it should be taken to the vet. Other times to take the horse to a vet is if there is a fever, an injury or if the horse acts like it’s in severe pain.
