  • Remove Stubborn Catbox Odors

    Posted on March 30, 2012 @ 1:47 am

No matter how vigorously you clean and wash your cat’s litter box, it still carries a bit of an odor.  To get rid of the odor, use distilled vinegar.  It has a high concentration of acetic acid that will kill odor-causing bacteria in a breeze.  To do: wash the litter box as usual then add a few drops of vinegar and let sit for 20 minutes.  Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly before adding fresh litter.

My Diet and Workout are not Good Enough

    Posted on @ 12:35 am

For those of you who frequent this blog, you probably already know that I’ve been having issues with my weight. At 42, I quit smoking and that skyrocketed my weight to a whopping 25 pounds in a span of two months. My taste buds have improved and my appetite has increased. Every food in sight, I wanted to put in my mouth.

That’s not the real problem though. When I realized that I am ballooning, I started working out again and slowly cut back on my food intake; but I didn’t lose what I gained. Nope, not even a pound. At first I thought it could be one of the “side effects” of quitting. I didn’t give up on my weight loss program; I continued to do it for a year. I kept telling myself that even if I don’t shed a pound, I am positive that I am doing my heart and my health good; though I admit that there were times that I felt like giving up. I guess my determination is just strong because others would have given up if they did not see the scale needle budge a bit. It’s really frustrating.

Another six months have passed and I still didn’t see any changes. I began to feel lazy and there were days that I skipped working out. Another month went by and the skips became more frequent. Then one day I just felt a numbness on my left shoulder. My body felt heavy and I can feel a slight pain at the left side of my nape. I hated to admit it but I felt the symptoms of hypertension. It was then that I realized I’m already 44 and I could be approaching the perimenopause stage. Hypertension is one of the symptoms of menopause. I went to the medicine cabinet to get the electronic blood pressure checker; it read 145/92.

I was nervous but at the same time I kept reminding myself that exercise should do the trick. I want to go through it without taking any medication. My mom is hypertensive and she’s on maintenance drug; I know that once you take it, you have to be on it forever. That gave me a reason to get more serious on my workout. I exercised again and researched for ways on how to lose weight fast. My blood pressure is at a normal level since I went back to exercising regularly. I feel much lighter though the weight didn’t budge.

I know that my workout is okay but it’s not good enough to shed off pounds.  I found the Biotrim program and I’d like to try it because according to the reviews, it will help me lose weight quickly the natural way.  What I really like is that it will teach me to eat more delicious food.  This could be it.

Why Younger Couples End up in Divorce

The divorce rate for every age group is high, but for young couples it is twice as high. Facing life head-on for the first time is hard, and when you’re trying to make a relationship work in the midst of it, even harder. Young couples haven’t yet learned how much responsibility is involved in marriage, and in life. There are several critical factors that can drive young couples apart and into a divorce court.

    Money Issues

For couples of any age, money problems rank high in contributing to divorce. For young couples who don’t have a solid career, yet still have all the bills associated with apartments or homes, vehicles, utilities, medical expenses, groceries and more, these financial problems become overwhelming. One partner may blame the other if he or she only has a part-time job or is trying to attend college. “If you worked more, we wouldn’t have these problems.” When there simply isn’t enough money to meet basic expenses, frustrations soar and so do divorce rates. Living with family may ease some of the financial burden, but puts even more stress on the relationship.

    Unmet Expectations

When young couples marry, they have a lot of ideas about what the marriage will mean. Someone is always there. You can share all the responsibilities. That other person will always have your back. However, when real life sets in, couples realize that having a partner doesn’t always mean you share equally. Things are still very tough. When the expectations in marriages aren’t met, resentment and blame often drive young couples to divorce.

    Unwillingness to Grow Up

What many young couples face is one or both partners who still want to party and play, even at the time when it’s critical to step up the game and make things work. Too much time hanging out with friends, playing video games, going out to bars or spending too much money are all signs that one or both partners aren’t growing up and taking responsibility. One person can’t make it work alone, and if both partners aren’t stepping up there is little hope that the relationship will work.

    What to Do

If you realize you’re in a hopeless situation, there is help. You can learn more from the Totaldivorce.com FAQ and secure a divorce attorney that will look after your rights. Divorce is hard at any age, but the great news is, you have an entire life ahead of you to make a better way for yourself and find someone who is able and willing to work together for a bright future.

    Save Money Through Coupons

    Posted on March 27, 2012 @ 12:09 am

To others it is time consuming, but to me collecting coupons is a real money saver. The process is really simple; all you need to do is collect these coupons from newspapers and magazines and use them to get discounts on products when you go shopping.

Another easy way to shop with free coupons is to check the internet. Most shopping websites offer coupon codes for their products. I was not very fond of shopping online but when I found out about this easy way to get discounts, I realized shopping online is not only convenient but it’s also a lot cheaper than when you shop in department stores.

Coupons may require a little of your time but it’s all worth it when you actually see that you are saving money.

    Top 10!!!

    Posted on @ 12:00 am

My son had always wanted a keyboard for his PS3.  He wanted to be able to play online with his friends and to be able to search the internet using his console.  It’s easier to navigate with a ps3 keyboard rather than use the controllers to type the characters.  I thought it’s alright to get him one since classes will be off this week.  I told him to wait awhile because I’d like to see the reviews first and he agreed.  Then last night he told me that he made it to the Top 10.  Woohoo!  I guess he deserves a reward; the wireless keyboard would be a perfect gift.

    Protected Info

    Posted on @ 12:00 am

How many times have you heard news about identity theft? Did you know that even if you have your credit card in your wallet, the high tech thieves can still access your important data?

We didn’t believe at first until my sister became a victim. She was surprised that she was being billed for a plane ticket that she didn’t even purchase. Apparently, someone purchased a ticket for London using her credit card info. It was a good thing that she was able to work it out with the bank and she was never charged with the purchased amount. She is now using a leather wallet to protect her important info. The wallet features the best RFID shielding so thieves will never have access to your credit cards or passport. And with kind of protection, we are positive that this incident will never happen again.

    Helping Build Families

    Posted on March 25, 2012 @ 6:38 pm

Sterility is a tragedy. People get married to build their own families. In desperation, couples end up adopting, which isn’t really a bad thing. Marriages end up in divorce out of frustration. Most exhaust all options regardless of the cost. Medicine has advanced by leaps and bounds. The development and birth of the test tube baby opened the floodgates and gave people hope. There used to only sperm banks, now, we also have egg banks.

Specialized clinics and hospitals now have entertained the prospects of egg donation. Of course, anonymity and privacy is preserved. Much like the sperm bank, eggs are frozen until such time that they’ll be used. Desperation has turned to hope. Now, getting pregnant is quite easy. Science is helping build families. The dream of someday of having your own family is realized. Before, the practice of couples having themselves checked is prevalent. Men, especially would want histo ensure that he would be marrying someone who can give him kids.

I have been a witness to many broken marriages due to the inability of either the man or woman to create life. It’s a very traumatic and tragic experience for both parties. Self-pity, depression and lostof self esteem leads to more serious psychological problems. Science has finally conquered and triumphed over sterility.

    End Goggle Fogs

    Posted on March 22, 2012 @ 4:08 pm

Now that the heat is on, I’m sure your kids love to spend long hours at the pool and most likely, their goggles keep fogging up.  The solution?  Foaming Shaving cream!  Spray it onto the goggles’ lenses (inside and out)  and let sit for a minute, then wipe it away with a soft cloth.  The shaving cream will leave behind a thin invisible film that will repel moisture, preventing the goggles from fogging underwater.

    Designers’ Expo

    Posted on @ 3:52 pm

My niece is on her last year of interior design and she had been very busy the weeks preparing for her project which also serves as her final exam. The theme is contemporary and each of the students were given a booth to showcase their design ideas. Different shops engaged in furnishings and decoration supplies sponsored the small expo. An artificial plants store is to supply the students with the indoor plants they will be needing in their designs. They were graded based on the survey sheets the guests were provided with.

My brother says my niece spent a lot of sleepless hours just thinking of her design. She really has an eye for beauty because not only did she make her booth attractive but she chose her decorations well. The faux plants looked so real, even the judges were surprised when they found out they artificial. All the students did great on their projects but hers stood out because she was able to create an elegant yet relaxing room.

She passed her project with flying colors. Her design of a teen’s bedroom caught the attention of parents and other guests. She’s been getting inquiries even before she graduates. I can already see that she’s going to be a successful interior decorator.
