    D For Kids

    Posted on July 24, 2010 @ 3:49 pm

Just like us, our kids need vitamin D now more than ever.  The nutrient is essential for strong bones, healthy growth and protection against auto-immune diseases such as type 1 diabetes.

Wondering what can help?  Giving them D-rich fare such as salmon and fortified milk is not the only way to boost a child’s levels.  Our skin naturally produces vitamin D following sun exposure so let your kids bask in the sun for 10 minutes without sunscreen twice weekly.  I also heard that serving meals with a pat of butter also helps.  Scientists found that butter’s saturated fat helps D bind to storage proteins in the body.

    Your Safe Haven

    Posted on @ 3:48 pm

Should you invest in gold?  If you were to ask me that, I would say it is a great idea.  The precious metal can be your knight in shining armor in times of financial crisis, your insurance.  Gold and other precious metals like silver and platinum are the only items that remain strong during inflation.  And should that ever happen, you will be in the position to buy gold bullion right away when you already have an account, rather than go through identity checks, wait for approvals and funds to clear.

Why wait when you can do it now?  It only takes a click to ensure your family’s future.

    What Toe Are You?

    Posted on @ 2:55 pm

Want to find out what toe are you?  Take this interesting little quiz, to know if it matches your personality.  Mine did.  🙂 🙂 🙂

    You Are The Little Toe

You are mild mannered and quiet. You don’t like to make too big of a fuss.

You enjoy spending time by yourself, and you are surprisingly independent.

The world can seem a bit overwhelming to you at times. You can feel a bit timid.

You press on and do what needs to be done. Fear can only hold you back for so long.

    I Have New Books!

    Posted on @ 2:53 pm

One upside of being sick is getting spoiled by my sweetheart.  🙂 🙂 🙂  Last Wednesday, after leaving  ER, where I was diagnosed with a respiratory tract infection, we passed by the bookstore.  Hubs said I can get all the books I want.  Woot!  But of course I didn’t abuse his generosity.  I only bought 6 books.  🙂 🙂 🙂  I didn’t get to read a lot though because of my heavy head.  But now I’m well and feeling so much better… I can get to them now!

Why bother with expensive inks and paper just to have your posters printed.  You can easily order online or have your own printed at a much lower price.   Plus you can have them delivered within 24 hours.  It’s great that poster printing services are now available online, I remember back in college, we  would go to as far as Novaliches to look for a cheaper service.  At least now  people can get them with just a click of a mouse.

    Where To Park Your Money

    Posted on @ 11:30 am

My father-in-law, who used to be a banker is a very sound investor. He never liked putting his money on short-lived investments so with some of his retirement funds, he bought gold coins. He is constantly monitoring the precious metal saying it remains strong and steady.  He feels secure with it and is convincing us, his children, to invest in it too. It sure is a sound investment and what he doesn’t know is that hubs and I already bought some a few years ago. We too believe  how strong it is and I guess it’s less risky than playing with stocks and real estate. It’s good to be holding onto something you know will never let you down.

    The Furry Pals

    Posted on July 17, 2010 @ 2:48 pm

Science proves it that owning a pet boosts the mental well-being of the sick, the elderly, and the disadvantaged.  Another group that greatly benefits from the company of furry friends are the kids.  In a survey of 500 kids ages 12 to 16, 82 percent said they talk frequently to their pets.  The kids felt that dogs and cats offer emotional support — listening, protecting, and/or showing appreciation.
