    One great reason why you should encourage your kids to play more… exercise is a boon for their bones.  That’s according to experts who say jumping rope or playing hopscotch for just five minutes a week can reduce bone-fracture risk later in life.  According to them, 25 percent of bone mass is built during childhood.  Physical activity during this time boosts their body’s production of bone-growth cells, forming protective layers that lower risk of fractures.

    Retiring in the Philippines

    My mom’s Japanese friend, Mr. Okutsu wants to retire here in the Philippines with her Filipina wife.  He’s asking mom for advice on where it is best to invest his retirement funds.  Without thinking twice, mom told him, “buy gold coins.”  Unlike paper currency and real estate, gold is very stable.  In fact, its price have incredibly increased within the past years.  (That’s why mom is so happy she bought some gold coins several years back.)

    Mr. Okutsu is arriving this weekend so he and mom can start looking where to buy rare gold coins.  He also wants mom’s advice on where it’s best to settle down, he also wants to buy a farm.

    I couldn’t believe it when I saw the result of the quiz.  I thought I’m an insomniac since I’m wide awake in the wee hours of the morning, blogging!

    However, you tend to sleep enough and sleep deeply. You are well rested in the morning.

    Keep doing what you’re doing. Very few people are as lucky as you are.

    And give everyone else a little slack. They probably aren’t as well rested as you are!

    Precious Coins

    My husband is an avid collector of coins. Since both of his parents were bankers, he has grown to like those coins which everybody seems to disregard. I have to admit I had no interest in them until I met my husband.  He has quite a few rare and precious ones he’s been keeping and this encouraged me to take interest and even buy gold coins. These are just little things but not many of us know these coins appreciate their value through time. We may not have much but with these coins, my kids will have something for their future.

    The Stork Cometh

    Another friend has given birth to a beautiful baby girl. All of us have visited her and we’re going to give her baby a welcome party. We’ve taken several photos for her baby announcements that we intend to give to the guests. Everyone is so excited and we’re just finishing up the preparations. Family and friends have been sending flowers and gifts. My friend and her baby will surely have a blast when they see what we’ve prepared for them.

    I’ll Do It Tomorrow

    Does your kid always gives you the answer “Okay mom, I’ll do it tomorrow?”  I have read that one of the reasons kids procrastinate is when a child is faced with a difficult material or a lengthy to-do list, his attention starts to wander.  To get him motivated and remain focused, have him draw boxes in the upper-right corner of a sheet of paper.  Ask him to stack the boxes unevenly, as though they’re going to tip.  Doodling in the top-right quadrant signals progression.  And the varying boxes will instill a feeling of being unstuck, which help him power through procrastination.

    The Busy Moms

    In putting our kids and families first, we, the moms, get very little sleep, tend to skip breakfast, grab unhealthy snacks, finish up the kids’ leftovers, and overlook exercise.  The result?  Overweight!  If exercise is impossible, a quick weight loss solution is to plan every day’s meals (including snacks) so that you’re always eating healthy foods.  Load up on veggies and include yogurt, berries, whole wheat bread with peanut butter and nuts in your meals.  Remember, a healthy diet never happens by accident.  🙂
