  • Dosing At Bedtime

    Posted on April 30, 2010 @ 3:51 am

Did you know that kid’s cough syrup can damage teeth?  I never realized that until I’ve read an article about it.  Pediatric dentists who examined the acidity and sugar levels of several children’s OTC cough syrups and antihistamine syrups said so.  They found that levels were high enough to erode tooth enamel and increase risk of decay.  Dosing at bedtime allows acid longer contact with teeth, so to protect their teeth, make sure your kid brushes his teeth after downing cough syrup.

    Get Glowing!

    Posted on @ 3:30 am

While recent discoveries reveal that diamonds, gold, silver and other gems are a woman’s skin’s new pals, a collagen face cream delivers the same benefits without you shelling out thousands of dollars.  Collagen face cream users experienced greater results within a shorter period of time. So whether your product contains gold, ruby, silver, garnet amethyst, or even more common mineral like salt, the end goal remains the same — to slough off the top layer of dead skin cells and lighten the lines (if not eliminate) to reveal a younger you.   A thousand bucks or more is not justifiable, you can get rid of fine lines and wrinkles and have glowing skin for less.

    The Bush Mango

    Posted on @ 2:37 am

They say, the superfoods pomegranate, acai and goji berries are packed with nutrients that help break down fats.  But there’s one more, and it’s known as irvingia gabonensis.

In fact, the bush mango is fast becoming one of the most popular ingredients in weight loss supplement products.  One study reveals that overweight people who were given irvingia gabonensis were able to sidestep hunger pangs.  The soluble fiber found in the bush mango seed is similar to other fibers and works as a bulk-forming laxative which also suppresses the appetite.  To put it simply, irvingia  tells the brain to turn off chronic hunger messages.

    Fun Freebies

    Posted on @ 1:37 am

Yesterday, while grocery shopping with my kids, we passed by the beauty aisle where a lot of people were gathered.  Curious, my eldest said, “Let go mama and check what’s happening.”  So we did and found out they were giving away promotional hand sanitizers. “I want to have that,” my boy said.  So we waited in line to get the samples.

He was happy that each one of us got one small bottle of hand sanitizer.  Sure we can buy but it’s also fun when it’s free.  It’s nice that companies are giving away useful promotional products.  Something that can really be of use and not just something you’d keep and add to the clutter in your home.

    Detox First

    Posted on @ 12:00 am

The last three weeks had me working so hard.  Our maid left for a month’s vacation and my store helper went home to the province to marry her fiance.  I barely have time to rest and sleep.  I have to juggle time taking care of the store, cooking, cleaning, laundry and worst, ironing clothes.  (I hate ironing clothes!)

After midnight I work on my computer, I update my blogs and right my opps.  I have stopped exercising since the two helpers left.  And with all those activities, do you think I lost weight?  Nope!  And I’m watching my diet, that’s what frustrates me more.  I should have lost a lot of weight but I didn’t! I was thinking, probably these 7-dfbx reviews are my only option.  I have read that the best way to lose weight is to first detoxify.  Maybe that’s what I really need to lose weight.  What do you think?

    Foot Ouch

    Posted on April 25, 2010 @ 2:03 am

The number of kids visiting the doctor for foot problems increases during summer months.  That’s because heat and humidity create the perfect conditions for germs to thrive.  Add to that the love of kids to play barefoot around poolsides and backyards, which increases their risk of injury and exposure to infection-causing agents.

One problem you should watch out for is plantar warts.  These are the fleshy growths on the bottom of the feet and are caused by the human papilloma virus.  It flourishes in humid places like poolsides and locker rooms.

To keep plantar warts at bay, have your kids wear sport water shoes.  These will provide a protective layer without raising the risk of fungal infections.  The warts will disappear on their own without treatment but they can be painful.  It may help to apply salicylic acid, it will gently disintegrate viral cells so healthy skin cells can replace them.

    Know Your Options

    Posted on @ 1:06 am

When a family is facing a mesothelioma diagnosis or any cancer at that, it seems as if their world has tumbled down.  Cancer seems to hit everyone as the end of the line.  It’s a little different with mesothelioma.  Although there is no cure yet, this type of cancer is treatable.  And depending on the case, patients can ask for financial support through the help of a mesothelioma lawyer.  Patients get it from exposure to asbestos and were exposed because of their work.   It pains us when a loved one is suffering, add to that the worries of hospital bills and medication.  It helps to know that there are legal options available to people who were injured by asbestos.

    The Mom Worries

    Posted on @ 12:07 am

In preparation for her gmat exam, my cousin Kim is taking online gmat prep courses while still in school.  My aunt is a little worried that her daughter is being too hard on herself but she really wants to pursue an MBA degree right after graduation. That’s what she told my mom when she called earlier.  Being a mom too, I also worry when my kids are working too hard but as long as they can handle it, I guess it’s alright to allow them to do what they really want.  It’s for their future anyway.
